I have learned that in order for me to consider that I had lived my life to the fullest I should do 3 things and if I had already accomplished these 3 things, I can say that I had lived my life fully. What are these? This may sound new and silly at first by here they are: plant a tree, have a son and write a book.

My Name is Elizabeth Hall, a colon and rectal surgeon that has been practicing for 7 years and I believed in that principle about living my life to the fullest. You may think this is silly or unbelievable by I guess I can convince you as you read along and maybe, you may adapt this principle as well.

Foremost is planting a tree. I believe that when we were still young, leaving a legacy that I can come back and see later. In a way, when I was young, I had something that I can go back to when I grow up. The tree would symbolize me and in some way, the tree that I had planted reflects how my life went. Every time I had a significant event or happening in my life, whether sad or happy, I would go back to my tree and see if it reflects my mood in one way or another. I had my life’s ups and down, career-wise and personal, just like my tree as it gets to fight every bad weather and calamities of nature.

Since me and my husband are now expecting I have alot of time on my hands, we are hoping for a baby boy, a son is the one the keeps the family name alive. No offense to daughters, but it brings great joy whenever a baby boy is expected, even though we are keeping it as a surprise a healthy anything is still a miracle in itself. Which brings me to my second goal, I would like to teach my children the value of life and the precious time that we have in this world. Their disposition in life reflects how my husband and I brought them up.

Finally, to write a book is the third major thing to do and it is not an easy task to do. This leads now to why I had to open a website and write about the medical side. Writing a book is like making your footprints visible. My tree and my children cannot contain or may not obtain all the knowledge that I had so writing seemed to be the easiest way for me to share my knowledge and ideas to everyone. Thanks to the Internet, now not only can my fellowmen read my articles but everyone around the world.
